City of Ankeny Showcases Community's Best with Social Media Campaign
The city's communications department kicked off the campaign last week, featuring Ankeny's Wagner Park in the inaugural "Wednesday Walkabout".

Residents who live in Ankeny frequently cite quality schools, growing business opportunities, access to amenities and its neighborly, small-town feel as reasons they enjoy living in Iowa's fastest growing city.
But as the community continues to grow, it's sometimes easy to overlook the little things that make Ankeny a friendly and cohesive community.
In response to the recently published 2013 Citizen Survey, the City of Ankeny's communications department is spearheading a new social media campaign called "Wednesday Walkabout."

Utilizing the City's YouTube, Facebook and Twitter accounts, the communications department will be publishing short videos and photos that showcase different facets of life within Ankeny.
"The citizen survey revealed to us that there were opportunities to remind citizen's about Ankeny's cultural offerings, activities for seniors and to help increase the level of interaction with local government," said city Communications Officer Deb Dyar. "It's our hope that the Wednesday Walkabout campaign will showcase these facets of the City along with others that help demonstrate why Ankeny is such a great place to live."

On Thursday, August 8, the city released an informal survey on their Facebook page asking residents for feedback about the kind of images they'd like to see over the course of the campaign.
Each week, in addition to the categories already identified, images of the city's parks, shopping, community events and residential neighborhoods will be shared across the city's social media channels.
"We encourage all of our followers to share their own photos and videos as well," Dyar said. "We're really looking forward to seeing the hidden gems within the City that others value and enjoy."
