In a White House press conference yesterday, Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest was asked a question about the president's comments on getting a new cell phone tax added to everyone's cell phone bill in order to pay for broadband for schools. I won't deal with the question of why the White House cares about what local school districts think is a priority for their districts. The real question is in what Earnest said in response:
"What I would say is that there has been -- (laughter) -- what we have seen from Congress is, we've seen a lot of stagnation and dysfunction and an inability to act on some rather obvious priorities of the American people."
It's a " rather obvious priority" to raise taxes on cell phone users? I haven't heard of anyone who wants a new tax on their cell phones. And what he's saying is that the president wants this done, and if Congress won't do what he tells them to do, he's just going to do it on his own. Well, folks, that's a dictator.
Does this White House even represent your priorities anymore?
