Day 3 of Government "Shutdown": Have You Even Noticed?

There's really only one positive that comes from a shutdown.

We are entering day 3 of the 20th government shutdown in the last 35 years or so.  Have you even noticed?  We hear all kinds of scare tactics from those who support big government about who and what will be affected, but as we've seen in the past, these types of claims never seem to actually play out.

The political elites are using these claims to govern by crisis.  They need to make you believe that it's a big deal, when it really isn't.  They are closing down monuments and memorials because they choose to, when those weren't closed down in previous shutdowns.  They spend money to turn things off which require no human interaction.  Senate Democrats are refusing to pass portions of a continuing spending resolution which would fund things like cancer research and securing monuments.

About the only positive thing that comes from a shutdown is that we discover just how little of the federal government we actually need.  About 800,000 federal employees have been furloughed, and for the most part, no one has even noticed.  When Nancy Pelosi says the "cupboard is bare" on more spending cuts, it's clear that's not true.  And when you see how the elites of both parties conspire together to do things the American people don't want, it's clear that we need to make a real change in Washington.
