7th Annual Stream Cleanup Event

ANKENY, Iowa (April 10, 2013) - The city of Ankeny, in conjunction with the Ankeny Stormwater Stakeholders Group, is holding its seventh annual Stream Cleanup event on Saturday, April 20, 2013. This event has cleaned up refuse and debris from our local streams, ponds, and watersheds.

This year the cleanup location is along Interstate 35 between the 1st Street and Oralabor Road Exits and behind the businesses on the west side of I-35. Volunteers will meet at the northwest corner of the parking lot of the building that houses MC Sports, JoAnn's Fabrics, and Flooring America. The cleanup will be from 8 a.m., to noon. The city will provide trash bags and vinyl gloves. Boots are advised, or shoes you don't mind getting wet or dirty. This is a family-friendly event. Please come at any time during the event and stay as long as you can!

'The view along Interstate 35 may be the only image that people have of Ankeny. By cleaning up the refuse, we have the opportunity to make our area look better, but have the added benefit of cleaning up the Fourmile Creek watershed," said Amy Bryant, Civil Engineer with the city of Ankeny. "Let's all do our part to keep Ankeny beautiful!"
