A. The silent auction begins at 5p.m. on Saturday, October 29. Dinner will be at 6p.m. and will be followed by the live auction.
Q. Who goes to the auction?
Find out what's happening in Ankenyfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
A. Absolutely everyone is welcome to ACA’s annual dinner and auction. The majority of the attendees are ACA families, extended family and faculty, but we also have several guests of the community.
Q. What should I wear?
A. Typically the auction is a casual dress event. However, this year 3 of the best Candy Land costumes will win a $100 tuition credit. All ages may enter the contest upon arrival that evening.
Q. Can I bring my child?
A. Yes! Please bring your children. We have hired a special children’s entertainer who will be providing a vibrant program for children ages 3 and up after dinner. To learn more about Lisa Laird, you can visit her website at pocketsfulloffun.com. The children will be led by our chaperones to enjoy the remainder of the auction in a classroom with a short film after the show.
Q. How much will it cost?
A. That is entirely up to you. Admission to the auction itself is free. Most people buy a ticket to the auction so that they can enjoy a catered dinner and fellowship with the other guests at tables. An adult ticket is $20, a child’s ticket is $10, or you can purchase a table for $150 and fill it with 8 guests.
Q. What will be auctioned?
A. The silent auction will provide you with the opportunity to bid on several local donations, many of which will be gift certificates to your favorite salons, restaurants and stores. The live auction will have a variety of things to bid on from hotel stays and birthday parties, to class baskets and a viewing of a live CBS taping. The week of the auction you will be able to access the program which will list all of the live auction items up for bid.
Q. How can I help?
A. Please consider how you can contribute to your child’s class basket. Also, be mindful of business owners you know who may be willing to give to the benefit. Perhaps you have a special talent that could be auctioned off. Maybe you have a timeshare you could donate or a teenager who is willing to baby sit or rake leaves etc. Last, and perhaps most important, your attendance and extending invites to family, friends and neighbors will greatly benefit ACA. Feel free to print a flyer to hang up in the community or at your church.
