The Ankeny Art Center is pleased to present their annual K-12 art exhibits February 7th through April 28th. The AAC presents three K-12 exhibits annually including Bondurant, North Polk, and Ankeny Schools. The Ankeny Art
Center’s K-12 exhibits are part of our extended outreach programming, intended to introduce and familiarize students with the gallery setting.
Familiarizing students with the gallery will bring about individual self-worth of students within the community, increased community involvement; promote culture and diversity, along with the insight of the interworking of becoming an exhibiting artist. The vision is to make creative, unique, and innovative art experiences accessible to every person in the community of Ankeny and
surrounding communities. We fully believe that unique art experiences will enrich the lives of the public and teach children how to be better members of the community. Please join us as we celebrate the creativity of the youth in
our area. All receptions are free and open to the public.
History
The Ankeny Art Center began hosting the K-12 Art Exhibit at the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce in the early
1980’s for the Ankeny School district. We held the Ankeny K-12 show at Kirkendall library for many years until we moved in to our current building across from John Deer in 2001. This move gave us a larger exhibit space, so we
opened our doors and asked surrounding area school districts to contribute student art work. We enjoy serving not only our community by our neighbors as well. This was such a great experience and has such a large impact on the Ankeny Community; we wanted to share that art experience with other communities. The Bondurant-Farrar School District began exhibiting a little over 5 years ago, and North Polk School District shortly before then.
