Ankeny Youth Triathlon

Active youth from around the area are invited to compete in the Sixth Annual Ankeny Youth Triathlon. This annual race offers boys and girls ages 7-14 first-hand experience with endurance, strength, and competition.

The race will begin on Saturday, July 21, at 8:30 a.m. at the Prairie Ridge Family Aquatic Center, 1220 NW Prairie Ridge Drive. The bike portion will be held on the trails at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex and the running portion of the race will be at the Prairie Ridge Middle School track. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event. Participants need to bring their own bicycle and MUST wear a helmet during the cycling portion of the triathlon.

Participants will be placed in divisions based on age. Participants ages 7-10 will swim 100 yards, bike two miles and run a half a mile. Participants ages 11-14 will swim 200 yards, bike four miles and run a full mile. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each age group. Every participant will receive a dry-fit t-shirt, drawstring bag, water bottle, recovery food and a participation medal.

Pre-registration is required. Cost is $30 per athlete, through July 13. After July 13, the cost is $35. No registrations will be accepted the day of the race.
