Kids ages 5 to 13 can bring their fishing rod and tackle to Hawkeye Park on Saturday, June 1 for the Kids Fishing Derby. This free event runs from 10 a.m., to noon. Parents are required to attend with their child. Two training activities are part of the fun-filled day, Fillet School and Casting School. Prizes will be awarded throughout the event and fishing information will be provided.
Pre-registration is required; register online atwww.ankenyiowa.com by May 31. This event is sponsored by the Ankeny Optimist Club, Central Iowa Anglers, Wal-Mart, Dragon Trail Chapter, Izaak Walton League of American, Iowan DNR, Sportsman’s Warehouse and Meta Bank.
