Ankeny Parks and Recreation is teaming up with The Des Moines Bicycle Collective to offer a Confident Cycling Course on Monday, April 23. The course will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lakeside Center, 400 NW Lakeshore Drive. This class will help bicyclists prepare for the summer bicycle season and bike month in May.Â
The course will include training about proper lane positioning, safe bicycling routes in the metro area and how to perform various bike mechanical tasks such as changing a tire. Participants should bring their bicycle and helmet to the class as some riding will be done. Bikers of any age are welcome, however children under that age of 12 should be accompanied by a parent.Â
This is a free class, however interested participants are asked to register by calling Ankeny Parks and Recreation, 963-3570 or emailing Parks and Recreation Director Todd Redenius at tredenius@ankenyiowa.gov.
