Creature Crawl — Ankeny Library 2012 Family Fun Walk

Help Ozzie the Owl find his nocturnal animal friends on Thursday, May 31 at the Creature Crawl, the Kirkendall Public Library’s 2012 Family Fun Walk. The Family Fun Walk is a fundraising event for the Kirkendall Public Library Foundation as well as a kick-off event for the 2012 Summer Reading program.

The walk will take participants around a marked path approximately one mile at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex. Upon arrival, park in the library parking lot and check in with library staff. Each child will receive an event passport and a prize for participating. Polk County Conservation staff will also be at the event to share more information on they types of nocturnal animals that can be found in Iowa.

To register, go to located at 1210 NW Prairie Ridge Drive or to download a registration form here. Cost is $10 for individuals or a family of two; cost is $15 for a family of three or more. Completed registration forms can be returned to the Kirkendall Public Library exterior book drop box or at the temporary library location at the Fire Department Headquarters. Walk-in registration is available the day of the event, which will be held rain or shine.

Kirkendall Public Library Foundation t-shirts are also available for purchase. The shirt is black and features Ozzie the Owl with text that reads “Dream Big READ.” Cost is $10 with sizes ranging from child XS to adult 3X. Patrons not participating in the walk are still welcome to purchase a shirt. All proceeds go to the Foundation and to help support library programming. If t-shirt order is received on or before May 22, T-shirts will be available for pick-up beginning Wednesday, May 30 at the circulation desk.
