Hawks Against Hunger: Food Collections at AHS Basketball to Benefit the Food Bank of Iowa and Ankeny Backpack Buddies

On January 29 and February 1, bring a canned/nonperishable food item to donate at the AHS basketball games, and support the Food Bank of Iowa and Ankeny Backpack Buddies!

Ankeny Backpack Buddies is a weekend supplemental food program that helps kids who are at risk for experiencing chronic hunger by giving them single-serve, kid-friendly food items.  The program began in March 2012 in one elementary school; in January 2013, it expanded to include a second school.  The Food Bank supplies these specialized food items.  Therefore, to help the Food Bank utilize more of its resources in procuring food for Backpack Buddies programs, food collections/canned goods drives are held.
