Iowa Walk for Epilepsy

On Saturday, August 27^th, families, friends and community members will come together to show support for the 30,000 people in Iowa living with epilepsy at the 2^nd Annual Iowa Walk for Epilepsy presented by the local Iowa Office of the Epilepsy Foundation of North/Central Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. The walk will take place at Merle Hay Mall, 3800 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310.

Proceeds from this event will stay in Iowa to provide epilepsy awareness programs, client support services, and advocacy campaigns for people with epilepsy and their families. These services and programs provided by the Epilepsy Foundation’s Iowa Office help to educate, connect, and empower people affected by seizures.

The walk will offer individuals and families affected by Epilepsy the opportunity to learn about epilepsy and gain insight on advocating services and options for families, and network with others.  The walk will feature family-friendly activities, live entertainment, a silent auction including approximately 50 items, such as Iowa & Iowa State autographed memorabilia, certificates for free golf, restaurant gift cars, Boy’s & Girl’s 20” Bicycles, Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Royals & St. Louis Cardinals baseball tickets, and handmade quilts, and an exhibitor’s fair displaying local support services and resources for people affected by epilepsy.

Pre-registration is encouraged, but is also available on the day of the event. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the walk will begin at 9:00 am with an awards recognition at 10:00 am. If registered by August 15^th, the registration fee will include a free t-shirt.  The 2^nd Annual Iowa Walk for Epilepsy individual cost is dependent upon the participant’s age. The fee for Ages 0-3 is Free, Ages 4-12 is $5, and Ages 12 & up is $20.  There is also the option of a Family Package which can include up to 8 adults & 10 kids for the total fee of $150.
