The Iowa Watercolor Society was founded in June of 1977 in order to promote the advancement of watermedia and garner support and appreciation for the artists and the viewing public. This active and dedicated group includes professional, amateur, and beginning painters, as well as interested observers from around the state. As President Jo Myers-Walker writes, “Painting with this group is always inspiring. It is so rewarding that we have a membership who keeps painting, growing, and submitting for the exhibit – what a delightful group of artists!” To become a member of the IWS, one only has to live in Iowa and have a passion for watercolor painting.
