Mental Health Advocate to Speak at DMACC

A recent college graduate who has coped with mental health issues will speak on the topic, “You are Not Alone:  Handling Mental Health Issues” during a presentation on the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Ankeny Campus.

Twenty-two year old Sean Campbell will share his personal experiences in coping with mental health issues and the challenges of living with a family member with a bipolar disorder and alcoholism, and his own personal battle with depression.

Campbell, who is a graduate of Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College in New York City, was a published author before graduating from high school and a motivational speaker by the age of 18, the same year he established his first company.

He is committed to promoting wellness and tolerance on a global scale while striving to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues.  

Campbell will speak at the DMACC Ankeny Campus at 11:15 a.m., Mon., Oct. 24 in the Ankeny Campus Bldg. #6 Auditorium.

Campbell promotes mental health awareness, addresses strategies to overcoming adversity and discusses positive visualization techniques in his speaking engagements.
