Open House at Historical Museums

Come explore Ankeny area's history on Sunday, September 2.  Our two museums, located at 301 SW Third Street will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  You will see what it took to plant crops before tractors and planters.  How the town of Ankeny with only a population of 700 during WWII help the war effort by giving up their homes, farms and making bullets for those who served in the war.  You don't have to go to the Smithsonian American History Museum in Washington, DC to see one of the first shopping carts.  We have one in our new store display.  The store display shows what a country store was like, along with photos of early stores in Uptown.  Do you like toys?   In our century old 2-story farmhouse we have a room full of toys.  You will find these displays along with other displays and artifacts that bring the area's past to life in our century old 2-story farmhouse and barn.
