Savings Safari and the 53rd Annual Springtime Party

It's a Savings Safari and the 53rd Annual Springtime Party at Hy-Vee in Ankeny April 23-29 with events for the entire family. The weeklong seasonal celebration includes an outdoor movie, animals from the Blank Park Zoo and three days of grillin' out Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The proceeds of all events will go towards continued enhancements at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex.

The fun begins on Tuesday, April 24 with the Hy-Vee Kids' Club from 4-7 p.m. This "Monkeying Around" event features visitors from the Blank Park Zoo and jungle themed activities.

On Thursday, the Ankeny Band Shell will host an outdoor movie showing of DreamWorks Madagascar (PG). This will be the first outdoor movie of the year and will begin at dusk. Madagascar is the story of four Central Park Zoo animals who have spent their lives in blissful captivity and are unexpectedly shipped back to Africa, getting shipwrecked on the island of Madagascar. Popcorn will be available for $1 and all proceeds will benefit Prairie Ridge Sports Complex. Bring out the family and a blanket or chairs to sit on and enjoy the free movie.

Hy-Vee will host a "Roaring Good Grill Out" in front of their Ankeny store on Friday, April 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Staff members of Ankeny Hy-Vee, members of the Ankeny Park Board and Sports Complex Foundation Board will be assisting in the grill out. Come enjoy a hot dog, bratwurst or hamburger and benefit Prairie Ridge Sports Complex at the same time!
