First-Round of Football Playoffs Pits Ankeny Against Fort Dodge

The Fort Dodge Dodgers are feeling the aftermath of some rough football games the past few weeks, and Ankeny is hoping to capitalize on it during tonight's first round of state playoff action.

Fort Dodge (3-6) will travel to Ankeny tonight to take on the fourth-ranked Hawks, who notched an 8-1 record last week after .

Fort Dodge is dealing with a crippling amount of injuries sustained by a handful of the team's key players, reports Eric Pratt of the Fort Dodge Messenger.

As of last week, the Dodgers were playing without senior tailback, linebacker and punter Dillon Christensen, Fort Dodge lost standout receiver Isaac Lehman (broken collarbone) and linebacker Jalen Mosley (dislocated shoulder).

The Dodgers fell to top-ranked West Des Moines Valley last week in a 49-10 loss.

The Hawks gained a five-touchdown lead by halftime last Friday, ushering them to the win and knocking Lincoln to 5-4. Ankeny already clinched a portion of the CIML Central title after they defeated Johnston last week in a 31-6 victory.
