Five Things to Know About Tuesday’s School Board Election

Here's your last chance to find out who's on the ballot, where to vote and how to register.

1) What time do the polls open?

Polls in Ankeny will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Eight candidates will appear on the ballot. They are vying for four seats on the Ankeny school board, which means you can vote for four individuals.

Incumbents running include Trent Murphy, Aaron Johnson, Leslie Petersen and Andrew Martin. Challengers are Dustin Graber, Brad Huss, Stephanie Jorgensen and Mike Rooney.

There also will be one spot on the ballot reserved for individuals seeking a position on the Board of Directors. Ben Norman is the only name appearing on the ballot for the position.

3) Where can I go to vote?

Voters are assigned a specific polling location depending on the precinct in which they are registered to vote. If you’re not sure of your polling location, click here to find out. Here is a complete list of polling locations in Ankeny:

  • Ankeny-2: , 701 E. First St.
  • Ankeny-3: , 510 E. First St.
  • Ankeny-4: , 417 S.E. Grant St.
  • Ankeny-5: , 914 N.W. Ash Drive.
  • Ankeny-6: (west entrance), 2842 S.W. Third St.
  • Ankeny-7: Lakeside Center, 400 N.W. Lakeshore Drive.
  • Ankeny-8: , 502 S.E. Delaware Ave.
  • Ankeny-9: , 2050 Four Seasons Drive.
  • Ankeny-10: , 118 N.W. Linden St.
  • Ankeny-11: , 517 S.W. Des Moines. St.
  • Ankeny-12: , 2506 S.W. Third St.
  • Crocker-1: (includes part of Polk City-1 in the Ankeny School District), 210 W. First St.

4) Is it too late to register to vote?

No. Potential voters can register at their precinct the day of the election.

5) What do I need to bring to register?

To register at the polls tomorrow, voters will need to provide either photo identification with their current address or one of the following documents: a government issued check or document, a residential lease, property tax statement, utility bill, bank statement or a paycheck.
