Flying Flags Correctly

I applaud Mr. Ballard mentioned in a recent article re: the care he takes to make sure Ankeny area businesses are respectful of our flag. I wish someone would educate The Ankeny Funeral Home re: flag flying practices. I am disappointed to see once again for the second time in a year that they fail to fly their American flag at night on a pole with a light illuminating it. (This is not a matter of a light being burned out when it goes on for weeks and weeks) Not to mention the deplorable condition it is in (faded and torn) and the fact that it was not lowered to half staff to honor Pres. JF Kennedy as ordered by our President this week. It is very upsetting to me that this continues to go on. I previously emailed the owner and it was taken care of once and he stated " I did not realize that the bulb was out". Well, what about checking on it occasionally?  What does it take for an area business located on a busy intersection in our community to follow these guidelines or simply take it down and not choose to fly a flag?? Many many of our loved ones died protecting that symbol of our freedom including many that have been taken care of by the Ankeny Funeral Home. Am I wrong in requesting that their service be honored and our freedom be displayed by a simple small respectful display of our flag?
