Aug. 24: 2013 Ingersoll Live Rockin' the Restoration, 2 – 11 p.m. on Ingersoll Ave. between 28th and 29th Streets. The West Side Chamber is a sponsor of Ingersoll Business Committee’s Ingersoll Live, a celebration to showcase the people, restaurants, bars and shops that make the Ingersoll area unique and to support Restoration Ingersoll efforts. The family-friendly fun will kick off with an appearance by crowd favorite Isiserettes Drum and Drill Corps, followed by music at 2:30 p.m. from Grammy nominated Justin Roberts, acclaimed singer-songwriter of children’s music. Also appearing: Americana roots rock band Brother Trucker at 6:30 p.m. and headliner Faculty Lounge at 9 p.m. An artists’ alley, food and drink stands, dunk tank, children’s bounce house and games, and a valet for those wanting to bike to the event are all part of day’s festivities. This year’s event is a special celebration marking the area’s achievement of being designated as an official “TIF and SSMID district” by working through the public process and formal city channels. This will enable the area to execute plans for future development and restoration for the betterment of the commercial districts and residential neighborhoods.
