PHOTOS: Ankeny Hawks down Johnston to Notch 7-1 Record
Ankeny finds success through air and on ground in 31-6 win on the road. Johnston drops to 4-4 on the season.
Ankeny junior quarterback Joel Lanning was unfazed by strong opposing wind gusts Friday night, effectively finding receivers and picking apart Johnston in a 31-6 CIML win in Johnston.
Lanning put the No. 5 Hawks (7-1) on the scoreboard early in the first, hooking up with Marshall Clark for a 32-yard touchdown reception.
Lanning hit Clark again in the second quarter for a 70-yard touchdown play. Lanning finished the night with 127 passing yards.
