Iowa High School Football Playoffs: Ankeny Hawks Plow Over Indianola in First Round

The Hawks remain undefeated headed into the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The top-ranked Ankeny Hawks proved tonight they could very well be a force to be reckoned with during the 2012 Iowa high school football playoff season.

The Hawks shot past Indianola during first-round play Wednesday night, defeating the Indians, 51-7. Ankeny was strong out of the gate when the Hawks' Bryce Evans scored the team's first touchdown on a 96-yard kickoff return.

Ankeny didn't ease up, pulling ahead 37-7 by the half.

The Hawks moved to 10-0 following tonight's game. The team will move on to the second round of the playoffs and will take on the winner of tonight's game between Ames and Sioux City East.

The next game will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29.
