Iowa Went Obama: How Did Ankeny Vote?

President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected to office Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan.

Iowa gave its six Electoral College votes to the president.

But which ticket received the majority of Ankeny votes?

Here's a hint: it wasn't the president.

According to unofficial results on the Iowa Secretary of State's website, a majority of voters at Ankeny's 15 precincts would have preferred Romney to be their next president.

In all, the Romney/Ryan ticket received 14,532 votes in Ankeny. Obama/Biden received 12,339. There were only two precincts at which Obama/Biden received more votes. One precinct was precinct 5 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, where Obama received one more vote than Romney. The other was precinct 7 at First Family Church, where Obama received 80 votes more than Romney.
