January Art Classes Start Soon in Ankeny!
Self-expression. Creativity. Critical thinking. These are just a handful of the skills you can learn through art.
Several art classes at the Ankeny Art Center are starting soon! Our creative and informative art classes are the best value in the greater Des Moines area. Classes for adults and children are taught by experienced instructors and we are equipped to accommodate all levels of skill and interests.
Here’s a few you may find exciting:
Adult Drawing Class. Try drawing like you’ve never experienced it before. We’ll show you how to use a variety of drawing materials to create shaded realism as well as modern and experimental styles. Drawing does not have to be frustrating! For students of all levels. Starts Monday, January 11, 7-9pm. Click here for more info.

5-8th Grade Pottery Wheel. Your child will have allot of fun getting his or her hands dirty while learning the basics of working on the potter’s wheel! ! We’ll work on wedging, centering, creating a bowl and other creative projects. This is definitely one of our most popular classes, so sign-up early! Starts Saturday, January 16, 10am-noon. K-4 Art Exploration. This is a delightful class for our young blooming artists! Children will learn the fundamentals different art methods making it very easy for them to create art as they grow through rich and exciting art projects. The artists will learn a variety of exciting techniques, use unique materials and explore different mediums to create beautiful crafts. Starts January 16, 10:30-11:30am. Click here for more info.

K-4 Clay Hand-Building. CAMP In this exciting project based class, children learn a variety of hand-building techniques while working with clay. Your child will love rolling out the clay, pressing stamps and creating sculptures! Students will explore sculpture and glazing, as well as making functional pottery. Stimulate your child’s creative ideas by working with clay and see what their imagination allows them to create! Starts January 16, 9-10am. Click here for more info.
