The quarterback chooses to join the Cyclone football team.

Ankeny quarterback Joel Lanning has given a verbal commitment to join the Iowa State football team over Nebraska.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Lanning gave a verbal commitment Sunday night, according to the Des Moines Register.

“I told myself I wanted to make my decision before my senior year, before my sports started,” Lanning told the Register. “So I could just play the games.”
