Lisa Hill Will Move to New Principal Role at Ankeny High School

Hill currently is an assistant principal at Ankeny High School. She begins her new role on July 1.

Lisa Hill, assistant principal at Ankeny High School, is moving to a new leadership role within the high school.

Hill will become associate principal at the high school on July 1. Hill has been with Ankeny school District since 2006.

“Dr. Hill's work as an assistant principal over the past three years has shown her ability to be a successful leader,” Jeff Hawkins, incoming principal at Ankeny High School, said in a release issued by the district.  “She has been a critical piece of the continued success of Ankeny High School, and I am pleased that she has positioned herself for this new role.”

Hill is a graduate of Ankeny High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Simpson College, a master’s degree in science education from Drake University and a doctorate in philosophy from Iowa State University.

Prior to joining the Ankeny school district staff, she worked as a clinical professor for the School of Education Department at Drake University and as a school counselor for grades 10-12 at Johnston High School.

Hill also spent time as a school counselor and at-risk coordinator for grades 5-12, as well as the instrumental/general music director and teacher for grades K-8 at Saydel Community Schools.

She began her career in education with Martensdale-St. Marys Community School District in 1986 as the instrumental music director for grades 5-12.
