Man Allegedly Punches Ex-Girlfriend for Looking Through His Phone: 2012 in Review
A West Des Moines man was charged with domestic assault after police responded to a call from his ex-girlfriend in the early morning hours of Feb. 5.

A West Des Moines man faced several charges in February after he allegedly punched his ex-girlfriend in the face after she tried checking his phone.

Jason A. Murray, 27, was arrested at about 3:35 a.m. on Feb. 5 when police located him in his vehicle near the intersection of Oralabor Road and Interstate 35, according to an Ankeny Police Department report.
Police originally responded to 426 N.W. School St. after a 23-year-old woman called the department and told police her ex-boyfriend reportedly punched her in the face, the police report said.
The report said the situation became violent after Murray and the victim argued about the victim looking through Murray’s phone. He then allegedly struck her in the face with his fist before leaving the residence.
The victim was treated for bruising on her face.
Murray was arrested for domestic violence after police located him in his vehicle, the report said. Murray was later charged with domestic assault and was sentenced to one year in jail.
