A new, unique and free continuing education event for teachers! nErDcampIA is designed differently than your typical conference. It’s an (un)conference, with a focus on literacy in learning. nErDcampIA sessions are not ‘sit and get’ presentations. They are about discussion, thinking and problem-solving. Ankeny Schools is bringing this opportunity to teachers, so they can share their expertise. Together we build the agenda first thing in the morning and then spend the rest of the day sharing, brainstorming and collaborating. Come prepared to participate! How does nErDcampIA work?

A large (blank) “session board” will be displayed. You might post a topic on the board that you’d be interested in leading or, you might just watch as session titles begin to go up and think about which ones sound like they might be worth attending. From the ideas posted, there will be four hour-long sessions. If you go to a session and it isn’t exactly what you were hoping for, simply get up and move to another one. EDcampers call this “voting with your feet.” Our time is too valuable for sessions that may not be useful.
