My favorite subject in school was English because I love to read and write. My teachers ignited my lifelong passion in this area.

Who was your favorite teacher and what did you learn from that person?

My seventh-grade English teacher made the most impact on me. She recognized and valued the individuality of each student, and she never gave up on anyone. She had high expectations of our learning.

What's the top priority/goal you've set in your new job?

I am passionate about people and learning, and having the opportunity to serve in this leadership capacity allows me to embrace both! Supporting the implementation of professional learning communities, as well as committing to a positive place for students and staff to come every day, will ultimately improve learning.

What do you feel is the biggest need in the Ankeny school system?

We have an outstanding staff in Ankeny Schools, and I look forward to our continued teamwork as we work together to meet the needs of all students. We are smarter together, and our collaborative engagement will empower us to celebrate both relationships and learning.
