My favorite teacher was my math teacher, Mr. Johansson. He was extremely passionate about his content area, yet took the time to build relationships with his students. He clearly wanted his students to learn math, yet at the end of the day he also wanted his students to know he cared.
What's your favorite movie about school life? And what is the worst?
My favorite school movie is School of Rock. It’s a great movie and makes me laugh every time I see it. At the same time, it is the worst school movie for so many obvious reasons!
What's the top priority/goal you've set in your new job?
My top priority and goal for my new role is to get to know the teachers, students, and families of Ankeny schools and to build collegial relationships with those I work with, with the goal of providing high-quality opportunities that will improve student learning.
What do you feel is the biggest need in the Ankeny school system?
As accountability increases and educators face diverse learners, I believe Ankeny’s biggest need is to continue to provide educational opportunities to meet the learning needs of all students.
