North Polk Packed the Ankeny Art Center!
The North Polk Community School District's K-12 exhibit at the Ankeny Art Center filled the gallery last Thursday!
Last Thursday, March 20th the Ankeny Art Center hosted the North Polk Community School District K-12 art reception to celebrate young local artists. 275 families, students and members of the community attended this two hour event. Students from Kindergarten through 12th grade were selected by teachers and staff to exhibit in this annual show. We would like to congratulate the young artists on their hard work and dedication to the visual arts!
At this year’s reception, Ankeny ceramic artist and educator Kathryn Riemersma also demonstrated working with clay in the pottery studio and talked with students about making 3-D art work. This allowed visiting students and families the opportunity to learn, observe, and talk to an artist about working with clay.
"The North Polk community presented wonderful support for these young artists."- Director, Barbara Vaske
