A bond referendum may be needed in order for the Ankeny school district to proceed with a $25 million renovation plan to Northview Middle School.
The Ankeny school board was shown preliminary plans during Monday's meeting, according to the Des Moines Register. The project would require voter approval so the district could take out the bonds needed to finance the project.
Contracts are expected to be approved at the board's June 17 meeting, the Register reported.
In February, Ankeny residents voted in favor of a $15.9 million referendum to finance the district's 10th elementary school. The measure passed and the school will be built at the intersection of State Street and 36th Street Northwest.
