Exploring Community Roles

Second graders at Northwest have been talking about their roles at home, school, and in their community. They have explored different community jobs and are beginning to focus on tools and technology those workers use. In science students have done some fun experiments exploring forces and motion.

Students Learn Positive Behavior

Northwest Elementary recently implemented the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support program. Students in third grade try to earn tickets by displaying character traits around the “Big 3”, Responsibility, Respect and Safety. Students can earn tickets individually for rewards in the classroom and they can also earn tickets for whole class rewards, such as the Jaguar doormat.
