Iowa Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition –This will be the Iowa Watercolor Society’s 36th
Annual juried exhibit showcasing outstanding original watercolor painting by
Iowa artists. This year, the Iowa water color society is excited to announce
internationally renowned water colorist Birgit O’Connor as the show’s juror and
workshop instructor.

The Iowa Watercolor Society was founded in June of 1977 in order to promote the
advancement of water media and garner support and appreciation for the artists
and the viewing public. This active and dedicated group includes professional,
amateur, and beginning painters, as well as interested observers from around
the state. The Iowa watercolor Society ha swell over 150 members and offers the
opportunity for interested painters to network with artists state wide.

 Each fall, the IWS sponsors
an annual luncheon, award ceremony, and workshops. This is a juried exhibition
with monetary awards. The IWS accepts entries in water media on watercolor
paper. From this exhibit a traveling show is created and provides outreach
around the state.

This year’s luncheon and awards ceremony will be held
at the Best Western Metro North in Ankeny, IA on September 8th.
Opening Reception for the exhibit will be at the Ankeny Art Center on Thursday,
