Order Your Old-School Ankeny Football Jersey for Senior Night

The Ankeny football team will wear jerseys that are replicas of what the team wore during its 1970-71 season for the Oct. 12 “Senior Night” game against Fort Dodge, according to the Des Moines Register.

Hawks fans can order the old-school jerseys, too. The 1970-71 replica jerseys are available for $60 from the Ankeny Football Parent Committee.

Visit the Ankeny Alumni Association website (www.ankenyalumni.org) to find an order form. Youth sizes S-XL and adult sizes M-3XL are available.

Fans can put their own number on their jersey. Former Ankeny players may wish to use their old uniform number, while other Ankeny graduates could use the last two digits of the year that they graduated as their number, the newspaper said.

Fans are encouraged to wear their jerseys to the game on Oct. 12. There will be an organized tunnel of former players for the Ankeny team to run through as the Hawks take the field, the Register said.

Football DVD

A DVD that celebrates 100 years of Ankeny High School football, “Once a Hawk…Always a Hawk,” is also available for purchase, the Register said. The cost is $15, and all proceeds go to the Football Parent Committee.

The DVD includes interviews with more than 20 former players and coaches, along with behind-the-scenes football footage and photos.
