Parkinson’s Disease Foundation Offers Online Seminar for National Family Caregivers Month on Tuesday, November 19
Practical Advice for Care Partners, Their Loved Ones and Health Professionals Who Care for People Recently Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease
WHAT: “Caregiving and Parkinson's: Laying the Groundwork for the Road Ahead” is the second in a series of six interactive online and phone seminars, or PD ExpertBriefings, hosted by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF). In recognition of November as National Family Caregivers Month, it will focus on how to lay the groundwork for a care partnership within the first few years of a Parkinson’s diagnosis and prepare care partners and those living with Parkinson’s for the journey ahead.
WHO: The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation® (PDF®) supports the scientific research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people who are touched by Parkinson’s disease. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested more than $142 million in research, education and advocacy programs. This PD ExpertBriefing will be co-presented by Gwyn M. Vernon, M.S.N., R.N., C.R.N.P., a Parkinson’s nurse specialist at Penn Medicine Neuroscience Center, University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and Rhona Johnson, a former care partner and founding member of the PDF People with Parkinson's Advisory Council.
WHY: Each November, PDF dedicates a PD ExpertBriefing for care partners who make a difference in the lives of their loved ones and are essential to their care. This PD ExpertBriefing will explore the common needs of care partners and provide practical tips and resources to help those in the early years of a Parkinson’s diagnosis. As many as one million Americans live with Parkinson's disease, a chronic and progressive movement disorder for which there is no cure.
WHEN: Tuesday, November 19, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET.
WHERE: Participants can view the PD ExpertBriefing online through PDF’s website or listen via phone, using a unique toll-free number provided at registration.
HOW: To participate in this seminar online or by phone, visit www.pdf.org/parkinsononline or contact PDF at (800) 457-6676. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Online viewers will be able to ask Ms. Vernon and Ms. Johnson questions during the second half of the seminar.
