PHOTOS: Ankeny Show Choirs Place Highly at Urbandale Invitational

Ankeny Show Choirs competed well at the Urbandale Show Choir Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11. A total of 16 choirs from Iowa and Nebraska competed, with varsity group Visual Adrenaline winning first place in first round competition, second place overall and best choreography.

Junior varsity group Perpetual Motion won first-place in the Prep Division and beat two varsity groups to advance to the finals where they placed sixth overall. Intensity, Ankeny’s all women’s group won second place in their division.

"I am very impressed with the quality of our show choirs and music programs in Ankeny, not to mention the hard work our students put in for these performances," stated Athletics and Activities Director Kevin Biggs. "I have been involved with high-quality music programs for the majority of my life, and the level of performance here in Ankeny rivals anything that can be found in high schools across the country. Congratulations to our students and their directors."

The last competition of the season for Ankeny Show Choirs will be held in Cedar Rapids on February 25. They will then wrap-up the season with their annual Spring Show Choir Spectacular, in which they perform for their home town audience.

The Ankeny High School Music Department would like to remind the public that tickets for the Spring Show Choir Spectacular go on sale February 27 at the AHS Activities Office. Mark your calendars now for performances:

• Sunday, March 4 at 2:00 PM
