Project Fresh Start Planning Annual School Supply Drive
The Ankeny non-profit plans to distribute supplies and backpacks to local families later this month.

For the past eight school years, Ankeny’s Project Fresh Start has distributed school supplies and backpacks to needy students in our community prior to the school year.Â
Project Fresh Start is a joint venture between the Ankeny Community Schools and the Ankeny Service Center. Additionally, each building is provided with supplies throughout the year to give to students as the need occurs.
Project Fresh Start plans to distribute supplies prior to the 2013-2014 school year on Thursday, July 25 from 4:30-6:30 and Saturday, July 27 from 9:00-11:00 at the Neveln Center. Last year, more than 450 backpacks were distributed in the four hours of the Days of Giving.Â

During the current school year, supplies have been distributed to an additional 200 students. Need exists in each district building. There is not a required need analysis form for this program. This program is designed for Ankeny Community Schools and Ankeny Christian Academy students only.
During the Days of Giving, the Ankeny Clothing Exchange (TAKE) will be open. Also, limited health services are offered on Thursday, July 25. To secure these services, please call for an appointment at 289-3960.
