Register Now for Fall Youth Soccer Leagues

Ankeny Parks and Recreation is currently taking registrations for fall youth soccer leagues, said a press release issued Thursday by the city of Ankeny.

The program is for boys and girls in grades 1st through 7th, during the 2011/2012 school year. Teams will practice up to twice weekly, with games held on Saturdays for all grades. Practices will begin the week of Sept. 4 and games will begin Sept. 17 and run for six weeks. Boys and girls will play in separate leagues.

Cost for this program is $42 for a resident and $51 for a non-resident. This cost does not include the necessary league t-shirts required, which are $8 for two t-shirts that can be worn for several sports leagues including Youth Volleyball and Youth Basketball. All games will be held at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex. All teams will be determined by a birth date draft.

Volunteer parent/adult coaches are needed for these leagues. If interested, please contact the Parks & Recreation office at 963-3570 for additional information. Those selected for the head coach position will receive a 50 percent off registration credit that can be applied towards any future Parks & Recreation program.
