Second Candidate for Ankeny City Manager Drops Out

Ankeny residents can meet the four city manager finalists at a reception on Aug. 6.

A second finalist for the Ankeny city manager position has withdrawn his name from consideration, according to a news release.

Consultant Colin Baenziger, Baenziger & Associates, told Ankeny city officials today that Gary Greer, the city manager in Farmers Branch, Texas, notified him over the weekend of his intention to withdraw.

On July 17, John Prescott, the city manager for Vermillion, S.D., withdrew from the search process.

  • Craig Malin, city administrator, Davenport, Iowa

  • William J. Malinen, city manager, Roseville, Minnesota

  • Cole O’Donnell, city administrator, East Moline, Illinois

  • Profiles of the remaining candidates are available online at www.ankenyiowa.gov.

    A public reception will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the Pinnacle Club at Otter Creek.

    Candidate interviews are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Aug. 6, where candidates will meet one-on-one with the mayor and city council, followed by a public interview process beginning at 1 p.m., at City Hall.
