Senator Obama vs President Obama on Civil Liberties

Who do you think won the debate?

Sean Hannity put together a great video of Senator Obama debating President Obama on civil liberties and surveillance.  Now this isn't about Obama changing his policies, we expect things like that from a politician.  Politicians say whatever they think will get you to support them at the time they need your support.  We know they do that.  This is about what is says about the media and the voters.

Many people warned that Senator Obama didn't really believe what he was saying back then.  It was pointed out that it didn't match with previous statements on the topics, or his previous votes on those issues.  But people supported him anyway, because he was saying things that sounded appealing.  The Progressives knew that what he said then really wouldn't matter anyway, because all it would take is some kind of event to occur for them to switch to the policy they really wanted to implement in the first place.  When some kind of event occurs, people look for a solution to the problem which supposedly created the event, and the government is more than willing to propose any number of new policies and laws which they say will help, but in reality just gives the government more power and control.

As Rahm Emanuel said, never let a good crisis go to waste.

This has been the plan all along.  The Progressives employ behavioral psychologists to help them plan.  They ask if they said one thing, how would people react to that?  Then if this other thing happens, what people do?  And if they modified this regulation to change what is allowed by government, how would people react?  They are manipulating you this way because they want to control you and your behavior.  And so far it's worked very well, you've shown to believe pretty much anything the administration says.  You keep supporting them even as they lie to you.  It shows them that they can do whatever they want and as long as they explain things well enough, you'll buy it.  Remember what Obama said after the 2010 elections?  He said they just needed to improve their messaging.  Not listen more to the people, not change the policies which Americans didn't want, he said they just needed to explain things better.  And we keep buying it.  Why?

The media is also to blame in this.  The media knows these contradictions exist and they just don't report on them.  They don't challenge the Progressives, likely because most of the media is on their side.  The media only really got upset when the AP scandal came out and they saw they were targets of surveillance.  So until it directly affected them it didn't matter.  The media has been complicit in allowing these lies and the manipulation of Americans to happen.

It's time for us to stand up and be vocal about how we don't want our government to lie to us.  About how we don't want the government to spy on us.  About how we want our government to listen to us.  Because right now they don't care what we think.  That is how tyrannical governments get power.  Is that the kind of government you want?
