Shooting At Local Ankeny Hotel Results In Death Of Pregnant 17 Year Old Suspect Remains At Large

Ankeny Police Officers were called to WoodSpring Suites, 6703 SE Bellagio Drive, in reference to an unknown problem. The first officer arrived and was directed to a guest room where he located a female with a gunshot wound to the chest. This female was identified as Mia Holmes (17) of Ankeny. Officers and Ankeny Fire Department personnel provided life saving measures and Holmes was transported to local hospital, but ultimately died from her injuries. Holmes was pregnant and her unborn child did not survive.

Ankeny Police officers and detectives interviewed several people and are currently attempting to locate Donault Logan (18), of Des Moines, for questioning. A material witness warrant has been issued for Logan and he is believed to be driving a red 2006 Saturn Vue with no license plates.
