Splish-Splash! Ankeny Swimming Pools, Aquatic Centers Are Opening This Weekend

The time has come to get some relief from the heat.

Tomorrow marks the opening day for both of Ankeny's aquatic centers, Cascade Falls and Prairie Ridge Aquatic Center.

We know it's been several months since anyone in Ankeny has had to worry about going to the pool, so we — with the help of our friends over at the City of Ankeny — gathered up all the details and need-to-knows you could possibly want to make your first day in the water a success.

, 2350 S.W. Prairie Trail Parkway

• Hours: 12-8 p.m. daily
• Cost: $7 general admittance, $5 for seniors, $1 for kids 2 and under. Admittance to just the FlowRider is $2.
• Lap Swim: Weekdays, 9-11:45 a.m. $2 fee.
• Water Walking: 10-11:45 a.m. $2 fee.

, 1220 N.W. Prairie Ridge Dr.

• Hours: 12-8 p.m. daily until June 3, then 12-7 p.m. to accommodate swimming lessons.
• Cost: $4 general admittance, $3 for seniors, $1 for kids 2 and under. A a 10-visit budget pass also is available for $36. This is usable only at Prairie Ridge.
• Lap Swim: 11-11:45 a.m. $2 fee.

Season Passes

Season passes are available to both aquatic centers. Passes can be purchased at the . They are not available at the aquatic centers.

Aquatic Center Special Events

In addition to just regular swimming, both of Ankeny's aquatic centers hold special events throughout the summer.

To register for any of the below events, visit the city's website or stop by the Parks and Rec office.

• SummerFest Splash Dance. This event is for middle school students entering grades 6 through 9.
• Family Fun Nights. Four members of the family get into Prairie Ridge for $10. These are held Sunday nights on June 10, June 17, June 24 and July 15.
• Adult-Only Swim Nights. Cascade Falls will be reserved for anyone 18 years and older from 8-10 p.m. on at least two Thursday nights this summer.
• Pooch Paddle Dog Swim. This is a special day set aside for dogs to swim, wade and have fun at the pool. This event is at Prairie Ridge on Aug. 16.
