Susie Meade Leaving Ankeny School District for Superintendent Position in Winterset
It was announced in a press release Thursday that Susie Meade, Ankeny School District's assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, accepted the superintendent position at Winterset Schools.

Ankeny School District's head curriculum and instruction leader Susie Meade is leaving the district to become superintendent at Winterset Schools, a press release issued Thursday said.
Meade joined Ankeny Schools in 2008 and has served the district for four school years. She will join the Winterset Community School District effective July 1.
"It has been a pleasure to be a part of the Ankeny School District during the time in which we reviewed all curriculum, developed a robust assessment system and focused on improved instructional strategies," Meade said in the release. "Our teachers have embraced (it), and their efforts have resulted in improved student achievement scores, more opportunities for extended learning and fewer students below proficiency."

Meade oversaw a significant curriculum overhaul during her time in Ankeny that spanned the entire district. These changes affected not only subjects including math, art, modern languages, literacy and computer and technical education, but also the way teachers assess students and provide instruction.
"Dr. Meade has left her mark on Ankeny education, and we have most certainly benefited from her presence," said Ankeny Superintendent Matthew Wendt in the release.

The Board of Education will be asked to approve Dr. Meade’s resignation at their June 4 meeting. The district is expected to immediately begin looking for Meade's replacement.
Meade's resignation is the most recent personnel change to affect the district's curriculum and instruction department. Jen Lindaman, the district's current director of secondary education, .
Also, Director of Elementary Education Dana Schon . Her last day with the district is June 30.
