This Week in Ankeny Weather: Is Monday’s Sunshine Here to Stay?

A look at this week's weather forecast for Ankeny and the surrounding communities, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain, rain – will you go away?

This week, it just might. At least for a little while.

With the exception of a rainy start, Ankeny and other parts of central Iowa might actually see some spring-like sunshine and temperatures later this work week.
 
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a good chance of storms and rain Tuesday into Wednesday. The rest of the week, however, will see plenty of sun and temps hovering near 70 degrees.

Here’s a glance at the details of this week’s forecast:

Monday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Southeast wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11am, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 11am and 2pm, then showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. High near 67. Southeast wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Calm wind becoming west northwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Thursday:  20 percent chance of showers after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 69.

Friday looks to be a gorgeous day with no chance of rain (yet) and a high temperature of 71 degrees. Rain will likely move back into our area Saturday and there’s a good chance of storms by Sunday.
