Johnnie answers your fitness and nutrition questions. What is the best workout plan? How does one stay motivated?

What is the best workout plan I should follow?
There are a lot of programs and workouts to choose from out on the market and online to choose from. A lot of people will do a whole program and not get what they read or thought. People will go buy the programs and think that because of what they seen or read it is going to work for them and get spectacular results. Any workout will work for anyone pending on their own personal goals and it just depends on how each person puts into it. No matter what program you buy or choose, no matter what gym you are currently at, don’t matter what machines you have or don’t have if you put 100% into it you get 100% in return and if you put half the work in you will get half the results. I believe personally no matter what workout plan you choose to do you must implement lifting weights of some sort to build muscle and strength. In return muscle burns fat! You need to make sure you are hitting every muscle group every week. If you plan on just running and running only and your goal is to tone up and build strength then that will not happen from just running only and you will need to lift or strength workouts. If you plan on building up your stamina and endurance and all you do is lift heavy weights then most likely you will not reach your stamina and endurance goals but will get big muscles. Please remember that when doing any workout always be safe and use good form. My advice on this question if you are struggling or need any help in these areas then please get a fitness consultation with Deb Finnestad at Anytime Fitness in S.W. Ankeny scheduled. You can also look into finding a personal trainer that will help you along your fitness journey in whatever goals you may have for yourself.

HOW DOES ONE STAY MOTIVATED?
A lot of people will ask this question. I always say remember why you started and keep moving forward. Everybody has to start somewhere! During your journey in life everyone will go through a variety of situations and will find ways to cope and get through these tough times. No matter who you are and what you are going through it can be anything from death in the family, divorce, health problems, alcohol, drug problems, confidence, self-esteem issues, etc. It can even be anything positive in life you have going on. Take all that good and bad energy you have built up inside yourself and you release that in the gym every time. The gym is one of the only few places where you can let everything go, dig deep within yourself and walk out with positive results every time. Live in that moment and know it’s your time to SHINE! Your whole life will change and I promise you the gym will never let you down ever, as long as you stay dedicated and putting in hard work! You transform yourself into the best person you could ever imagine and keep striving towards personal excellence. You will become so inspired that you will start to inspire everyone around you and that will keep you going back for more. The results that you will get mentally and physically, NO ONE! I MEAN NO ONE! can ever take that away from you! All the struggles, tears, sweat, blood and pain that we all continue to fight for in our lives have now become a battle that we are never afraid to challenge, overcome and conquer. Every time you look in the mirror moving forward you will always see personal success and that is PRICELESS!
