Ankeny High School has the Perky Hawk and Centennial High School will soon have the Java Jaguar. These two coffee shops provide vocational skills and job training to both students with disabilities and general education students who can apply to work during free periods. All money made either goes back into the business to buy new products and/or items or it is made available to high school teachers to purchase needed items to improve the education of students.
Both coffee shops are in need of volunteer adults who can supervise, support, and help teach job skills to student workers. We are looking for people to work in 1, 2, or 3 hour shifts on regular days each week. Hours could be between 7:30am-11:30am and if enough volunteers become available, 1-3pm. All training will be provided and free drinks while working.
