Want to Sign a Petition to Hold a Special Election for Craig Block's Council Seat?

If you've been following , you know many of our readers are interested in .

If you're not able to start a petition yourself, a few of our readers are circulating petitions and have made themselves accessible to Ankeny residents.

One of those readers is Nick Berry:

"I will be out and about Sunday getting signatures. If (anyone) would like to hunt me down, they can call me at 515-867-8111 and we can meetup then. Or e-mail me your address and I will swing by Sunday afternoon. My email is nickberry@plaxant.com."

Then there's Mollie:

"I will be at the and Silent Auction at the church on 37th and Ash Saturday from 1-3 p.m. I have petitions for anyone who attends and would like to sign."

Finally, Joe Dygas also has made himself available:

"For those interested in signing the special election petition, I have copies available. Contact me at 515-650-7236 for further information."

To hold a special election, petitions must be filed with the within 14 days after the appointment is made. The council is set to consider Denny Rafdal's appointment to the council at its May 21 meeting.

Petitions must contain at least 1,000 signatures or 15 percent of the number of people who voted in Ankeny's last election, whichever is fewer. According to the city's website, 2,098 people voted in the last election. This means 315 residents' signatures are needed to hold a special election.
