What are Our Objectives in Syria?

Do we really know what we are after?

What is our Syria policy?

We oppose the killing of innocents, yet more than a thousand have been killed every week since the conflict started and we did nothing.  We don't want regime change, but any action we take would only help the al qaeda aligned rebels to overthrow the regime.  We support the rebels with training and arms, but ignore their brutality.  Kerry even claimed the rebels are "moderates".  The only threat they can identify to US national security is a generic indirect threat.  We hear that US boots will not be on the ground, but then the Secretary of State says it's possible, and the proposed resolution in support of action also allows it.  We state there is a "red line", but then we hear that we didn't state there was a red line

What is our Syria policy?  Does anyone really know?  Are they treating it like Obamacare, that we need to attack Syria to find out what the Syria policy is?

Calls to at least one Congressman's office are going 498-2 against action, and reportedly 95% overall.  Why are we doing this?  What is our goal?

Of course, if you run out of argument in support of your position, just blame Bush...
