Where Will Ankeny Football Coach Jerry Pezzetti Coach Next Year?

In an exclusive interview with the Des Moines Register, the school's athletics director said Pezzetti was given his preference as to which team he will coach next school year.

After 43 years as a Hawk, Ankeny football coach Jerry Pezzetti will hang up the maroon and gold for black and silver next year.

In an exclusive interview with the Des Moines Register, Ankeny athletics director Kevin Biggs told the newspaper Pezzetti was given his preference to continue coaching next year at Ankeny Centennial High School, which opens in August 2013.

The announcement was made Saturday, the article said. However, it is unclear whether Pezzetti’s request to be named a co-head coach with his son, Ryan, would be granted, it continued.

Pezetti coached the Ankeny Hawks for 43 years, ending his run with a Class 4A Iowa High School Football championship in November.

As for who will replace Pezzetti, Biggs told the Register formal interviews for the Ankeny football job would begin in early February.
